How to create a Remote Desktop Shortcut (RDP)
Click the Start button
Type the work "Remote" without the quote marks.
When "Remote Desktop Connection" comes up select it.
In the text box next to the word Computer enter the name of the remote workstation. The box is indicated with the number 1 arrow.
For example, the name for a DC workstation would look like DCA-WRK-####.
Please replace the #### with the number of the workstation.
Next click the Show Options button marked the number 2 arrow.
On the next screen click the Display tab marked with the number 1 arrow.
Next check on the box next to "Use all my monitors for the remote session."
(This check box will use all the screens that are attached to your laptop,)
Next, click the General tab to return to the front screen.
Then click the Save As button.
Navigate to your desktop and name the file the name of the remote workstation, for example DCA-WRK-####
After the shortcut has been created the Remote Desktop Connection window can be closed by clicking the Exit button in the upper right corner or the Connect button can be used to connect to the remote workstation.
